One of ten Motel One outlets in Berlin (as of 2023), but by far the one with the most convenient proximity to Schöneberg's gay zone. Europe-wide Motel Ones are relatively inexpensive, with a corporate-stylish thing gong on — a bit like IKEA but with even less warmth. And while the rooms are loaded with detail, they tend to be on the pokey side and suffer from somewhat ill-conceived design. Still, the overall package is terrifically reliable and offers something of a bargain. This 409-room hotel is a short walk to Berlin's sprawling and gay-friendly green space the Tiergarten. No smoking, no twin beds, no phones in the rooms and no workout area. Opened December 2009. U-Bahn: Wittenbergplatz.
